Obituary for Rose Bruna Sayers

Rose Bruna Sayers, 94 of Pittsfield, passed away February 16, 2021 at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on October 6, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Eugenio and Talinda Sciarra Blefari, and attended Pittsfield Schools.
She married Walter A. Sayers, Sr., on November 24, 1945 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He predeceased her on March 20, 2008.
Mrs. Sayers was employed at Berkshire Coat Factory for 31 years. At one time she also worked for General Electric and Stop and Shop.
A communicant of St. Charles and the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Churches, she enjoyed sewing, dancing, gardening, and walking. Rose was a member of the Drum and Bugle Corps for many years with her children. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Walter A. Sayers, Jr., and wife Janice of Pittsfield, and James F. Sayers and wife Debbie of Pittsfield; three daughters, Linda Watson of Yalaha, FL, Patricia Mathes and husband Steven of Pittsfield and Shaina Sayers of Pittsfield. A brother, Paul Blefari of Sunnyvale, CA and fourteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Ron Watson, two sisters, Laura Sayers and Eva Laurin Laflamme and a brother Frank Blefari.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held, MONDAY, February 22, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church, celebrated by Rev. Peter A. Gregory, Pastor Emeritus, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Shriner’s Hospital of Springfield in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
