Obituary for Ronald R. Scott

RONALD "SCOTTY" RICHARD SCOTT, 75, of 18 Weston Avenue, Dalton,died Tuesday morning at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Stamford, New York, December 7, 1930, the son of Nelson and Florence
Scutt Scott, he (and another who had enlisted in the service prior to their graduation
date) was a 2004 honorary graduate of Pine Plaines High School in Millerton, New York.
A Korean War veteran, he served in the United States Marine Corps from December 1947 to May 1966 after which he transferred to the Fleet Marine Corps Reserve and was discharged with the rank of Gunnery Sergeant E-7 on May 31, 1968.
A machine tender by trade, Mr. Scott was employed by Byron Weston for 22 years, and prior to that, was employed by General Electric Company. He had also worked as a curator at the Crane Museum, a desk clerk at the Community Recreation
Association, and had been a Chief of the former Dalton Auxiliary Police. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Dalton where he was a member of the Monday Morning Crew, a work-fellowship group, which took on
maintenance projects at the Church, and he helped with Church dinners, and wherever
else needed. He was an active member of the Dalton Lions Club where he had held
several offices and was a recipient of the prestigious Melvin Jones award. He was also a
member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion . He enjoyed
hunting and fishing, and was on the Board of Directors of the Pittsfield Sportsmen's
Club. He also enjoyed gardening.
Mr. Scott leaves his wife, the former Barbara J. Kreiger, whom he married November 26, 1955.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Jody Fijal of Adams, and
Jolene Forgey of Lanesborough; a brother, Charles Palmer and a
sister, Millie Scison and two grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service for RONALD 'SCOTTY' RICHARD SCOTT, who died
Tuesday, September 19, will be held Friday, September 22, at 10:30 a.m., at the First
Congregational Church of Dalton, with Rev. Robert Kyte, Pastor, officiating. Burial
will be at a later date in Ashuelot Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of
flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Scott may be made to the Dalton Lions Club or
to the Dalton Ambulance and Rescue in care of DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME,
894 East Main Street, Dalton.
Mr. Scott also leaves his sons-in-law, Joseph Fijal and Michael Forgey, and his
two grandchildren, Scott Forgey and Heather Ethier; and will be missed by "Frawlein".
He was also pre-deceased by a brother, Walter Clinch, and two sisters, Doris Moore and
Hazel Brill.
