Obituary for Ronald F. McElroy
Ronald Francis McElroy, 81 of Cheshire, MA, passed away July 9, 2022 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
Born in North Adams, MA on December 19, 1940, he was the son of Gordon T. and Dorothy E. Collette McElroy.
Ronald was a 1960 graduate of Dalton High School. He was a United States Navy and Army Veteran, having served for 23 years.
Mr. McElroy married the former Jean M. Parker on April 20, 1963.
He was employed as a pipe fitter for 28 years at General Electric, retiring in 1999.
Mr. McElroy is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jean M. McElroy of Cheshire. Three children, James M. McElroy and wife Lisa of Yampa, CO, Michelle A. Phillips and husband Mark of Pittsfield, MA and Steven A. McElroy and wife Loni of Adams, MA. Twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. As well as his sister, Dawn McElroy of Plymouth, MA. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael McElroy.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire. Burial with full military honors will follow at Cheshire Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his name to Mass Division of Fisheries and Wildlife in care of DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME, PO BOX 445, Cheshire, MA 01225.
