Obituary for Ronald V. Lancia

Ronald V. Lancia, 80 of Cheshire, passed away June 14, 2022 at Albany VA Hospital.

Born in Adams, MA on January 1, 1942, he was the son of Victor and Virginia Stec Lancia.

Ron attended schools in Cheshire and Adams and then enlisted in the United States Navy in 1960 serving in Norfolk Va. and at the Naval Air Station in Port Lyautey, Morocco, Africa. While serving he played for the All Navy Basketball Team traveling throughout Europe. He married Lois M. Hunt on May 1, 1965. She predeceased him on May 15, 2020.

Mr. Lancia was a meat cutter for 25 years at Adams Supermarket. He then was employed by General Electric for 19 years.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, hunting, spending time at his Lake Champlain Camp, watching youth sports and many years of coaching youth sports at all levels. Ron also served the community of Cheshire for many years as a volunteer Fireman, Police Officer, and Chief of Police.

He is survived by his three sons, Mark Lancia and wife Tina, Brian Lancia and wife Shelly and Brent Lancia and wife Ali, all of Cheshire; Seven grandchildren, Zachary, Mitchel, Tyler, Briana, Chase, Griffen, and Makenna. A sister, Sandra Sloane and her husband Joe of Cheshire, as well as his only niece, Shannon Toomey, her husband Patrick and daughter Meghan of Pittsfield. As well as his cousins and close friends Scott and Nancy Gajda.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held, TUESDAY, June 21, 2022 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire. Burial will be held at a later date. Calling hours will be held, MONDAY, June 20, 2022 from 4 to 7 p.m. at DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME, 121 North State Rd., Cheshire, MA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Cheshire Fire Department in care of the funeral home.
