Obituary for Ronald W. Berkeley

Ronald William Berkeley of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2015 at the
Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility in the presence of his loving daughters. He was 65 years old.
Ronald was born May 17, 1950 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts to the late Edna M. James and Charles E.
Berkeley Sr . He was employed by the Conrail Railroad Company for several years before briefly owning
and operating the highly popular Club Berk in the 1980s . He also worked for the Pittsfield Armored Car
Company and later for the Pepsi Bottling Plant in Ayer, MA until his retirement in 2007.
He was extremely passionate about music, and played keyboard for his church as well as for the band
"R&R Express" which performed throughout the Berkshire County region. He was also an avid weight
lifter and was featured in a 1981 article for the Berkshire Eagle highlighting him as a local body builder.
He is survived by his two siblings; Kevin Berkeley and Michael Gardner; his daughter Ronnica Bennett
(husband Joseph Bennett); son Kenneth Berkeley; daughter Christina Berkeley; and two sons Ronald
Berkeley, Jr . and Richard Berkeley from his first marriage. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren,
Jeric, Keyanna, Ciara, Kareem , Jayden, Marquan, Jayvian, Savannah, Ronnie III, Kiara, Nicholas; one
great grandchild, Massiah; and numerous extended family and friends including his long term companion,
Minnie P. Powell . He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Kenneth and Charles
Berkeley.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday September 2, 2015 at Price Memorial AME Zion
Church at 163 Linden St, Pittsfield, Massachusetts 01201. Flowers, cards or food donations can be sent
to the church. The DERY FUNERAL HOME is handling arrangements.
