Obituary for Ronald W. Bannick

Ronald  W.  Bannick
Ronald W. Bannick, 78, of 13 Causeway Road in Peru passed away on Friday, August 18, 2017 at home.
Born on August 22, 1938 in Pittsfield, he was the son of the late Chester and Helen Shimkus Bannick. He was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1955 graduate of the former St. Joseph Central High School. He also was a graduate of St. Anselm College and also attended Williams College and the University of Massachusetts. Ron was employed as the clubhouse manager at Wahconah Country Club in Dalton for thirty years. He had also served as the manager at Berkshire Hills Country Club for ten years and at Blantyre for ten years. He retired in 2012.
He was a communicant of St. Agnes Church and an avid follower of sports. He enjoyed following the Red Sox, Celtics and New York Giants. He also enjoyed going to the horse races at Saratoga. He leaves his caregivers and friends; Doreen and Jay Jewell and their son Jonathan of Peru with whom he resided. He will be greatly missed by the family dog “Maya”. Ron also cherished the many friends and friendships that he had over the years throughout the Berkshire’s.



FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Ronald W. Bannick who passed away August 18, 2017 will be held Thursday at 4:00 PM at the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in Dalton conducted by the Rev. Christopher Malatesta, pastor of St. Agnes Church in Dalton. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday at 10:00AM in Village Cemetery on Rte. 41 in West Stockbridge conducted by the Rev. Charles Young, chaplain at Hospice Care in the Berkshires. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home in Dalton. Memorial donations in memory of Ron may be made to the Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Association, American Cancer Society or to Hospice Care in the Berkshire’s all in care of the funeral home, 890 Main Street, Dalton, MA 01226.
