Obituary for Romolo DiGIROLAMO

ROMOLO DiGIROLAMO, 86, of 310 Pecks Road, Pittsfield, died Tuesday
morning at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Santeramo in Colle, Province of Bari, Italy, July 25, 1921, the son of
Igniazio and Francesca Brescia DiGirolamo, he was educated in Italian schools.
He served in the Italian Army during World War II and had been a Prisoner of
War in England. He came to the United States on February 3, 1966, and settled in Pittsfield.
A stone mason by trade, Mr. DiGirolamo worked for various contractors in The
Berkshires and in the Albany, New York, area, and had been self-employed, as well. He
retired in 1986.He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a member of
the Italian-American Club. While in Italy, he taught boxing. He enjoyed bocce and
bowling, gardening, sports, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. DiGirolamo leaves his wife, the former Giovanna Perotti, whom he married
September 14, 1947, in Terracina, Italy.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Roberto DiGirolamo of Pittsfield; two
daughters, Anna Pozzoni of Mesa, Arizona, and Silvana Penna of Pittsfield; a sister,
Antonietta Priamo of Melbourne, Australia; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE:Funeral services for ROMOLO DiGIROLAMO, who died Tuesday, October
30, will be Friday, November 2, at 9:45 a.m., from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a
Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial
will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, from 4:00 to 7:00
p.m., at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr.
DiGirolamo may be made to the Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association in care of the
Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
Mr. DiGirolamo is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Joanne Sanginetti
DiGirolamo and his son-in-law, Mario Pozzoni, his nine grandchildren, Mark Penna,
Kathie Penna-Ward, Monica Penna, Lisa Pozzoni, Sylvia Hackett, Gianna Culbertson,
Erica DiGirolamo, Jessica DiGirolamo, and Robert DiGirolamo; his eight great grand-
children, Julia, Ethan, Mia, Sophia, Matthew, Nicholas, Isabella, and Lilliana, his
brother-in-law, Domenico Perotti and his wife, Adriana.
