Obituary for Roger N. Ott

Roger Norman Ott, 71 of Dalton, MA, passed away October 31, 2023 at home. Born in Pittsfield, MA on June 9, 1952, he was the son of Leonard and Mary Sumi Ott.

He was a 1970 graduate of Taconic High School and a United States Marine Veteran, having served during Vietnam.

Mr. Ott married the former Theresa L. Amuso on November 19, 1988 at Zion Lutheran Church.

Roger was a truck driver for 12 years at Maplegrove Equipment in Adams, MA. He also was a Ferrier for over 40 years and was a graduate of the Virginia School of Ferrier, Danny Nord Horseshoeing School. Most recently, he was a school bus driver for Dufur Bus Lines in Hinsdale, where he drove for the Becket school system.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Mr. Ott loved horses, driving fast cars, was an accomplished drummer and was a great story teller and jokester.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa Ott of Dalton. His children, Shane Ott of Lanesboro, Trevor Ott and wife Mindy of Pittsfield, Garrett Ott and partner Alycia Rando of Dalton, Ethan Ott of Dalton and Cody Ott of Cheshire; two brothers, Francis and John Ott, both of Pittsfield; and two sisters, Madeline Errichetto of Pittsfield and Mabel Primrose of Oregon. Roger is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Kristopher, Trevor, Ivan, Marley, and Declan; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Colton Peter Ott and three brothers.

Calling hours will be held, Friday, November 10, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, PITTSFIELD. A prayer service will follow at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made payable to Dery Funeral Home to help the family defray costs.
