Obituary for Robert W. Trapnell

Robert Wardell Trapnell, 83, of Dalton, passed away November 11, 2022 at home.

Born in West Chester, PA on April 12, 1939, he was the son of William Chester Trapnell, Sr., and Marie Large Trapnell.

He was a United States Navy Veteran, having served as an Underwater Demolition Technician.

He married the former Ruth Davis on June 18, 1960.

Mr. Trapnell was a truck driver and instructor for ServiceStar.

He loved being a Boy Scout leader where he taught wilderness survival, rock climbing, caving, and hiking. He also enjoyed flying his own airplane. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family and friends.

Mr. Trapnell is survived by his wife Ruth Trapnell of Dalton. Daughter, Linda L. Fanion and fiancé David Pierce of Pittsfield; sons, John Robert Trapnell and wife Lisa of Rock Hill, SC and William David Trapnell and wife Jan of Pittsfield. Five grandchildren, James Fanion, Stephen Fanion, Peter Trapnell, Narisa Trapnell and Jaedan Trapnell. Three great-grandchildren and a sister, Barbara Doto and husband Joe of Delaware. He was predeceased by two brothers, William “Bill” Trapnell, and John “Jack” Trapnell.

Funeral Notice: Funeral services will be held, Friday, November 18, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Berkshire First Church of Nazarene in Dalton. Burial will follow at Ashuelot Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service at the church from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Berkshire First Church of Nazarene or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of Dery-Foley Funeral Home, 890 E. Main St, Dalton, MA 01226.
