Obituary for Robert C. Sweet Sr.

Robert C. Sweet Sr., 79, of 3255 Main Street in Becket passed away on June 12, 2016 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born on April 19, 1937 in Spencertown, NY, he was the son of the late Daniel and Dolores Cordero Sweet. He was educated in Chester schools and proudly served his country with the United States Navy. A longtime Becket resident, he was employed as an electrician for over sixty years and was the owner and operator of RCS Electric in Becket. He retired in 2003. Bob was a well-known longtime area country musician. He performed over the years with the October Mountain Boys, Country Catastrophe and Sweet Country Wine. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and camping. He leaves his wife, the former Doreen M. King of Becket whom he married on November 12, 1984. Five daughters; Debbie M. Fargione of Pine Plains, NY, Tina E. Sweet and her partner James Schumacher of Housatonic, MA, Amanda L. Sweet and her fiancé Jimmy Avalle of Dalton, Becky L. Houghtaling and her husband Wallace of Pittsfield and Leah F. Sweet of Old Orchard Beach. Two sons; Bobby Sweet Jr. of Washington, MA and William J. Hostetter of Pittsfield. Two sisters; Margaret S. Curtis of Middlebrook, FL and Juanita R. Pendergast and her husband Donald of Northport, Maine.
Two brothers; Daniel G. Sweet Jr. of Pittsfield and George R. Sweet of Annadale, NJ. Thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and the three little Nataro girls who called him "Mr. Bob". He was predeceased by a sister; the late Darlene Sweet and by his brother-in-law and golf partner; Victor Curtis.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Robert C. Sweet Sr. of Becket who died June 12, 2016 will be held Wednesday June 22, 2016 at 10 :00 AM at the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in Dalton. Burial will follow in North Becket Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2016 from 5 to 8 PM at the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 Main Street, Dalton, MA 01226.
