Obituary for Robert J. Sawyer

Robert J. Sawyer, 64, of 56 Eleanor Road, Dalton, died Saturday at home.
Born on May 17, 1950 in Pittsfield, he was a son of Myrtle Benson Sawyer of Pittsfield and the late Donald A. Sawyer. A longtime Dalton resident, he was educated in Pittsfield schools and took welding classes at Taconic High School. He was employed as a millwright for many years at Southworth Papers, Rising Paper and Beloit-Jones. He retired in 2013. Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman. Besides his mother of Pittsfield, he leaves his wife, the former Cheryl Carmon
of Dalton whom he married on May 28, 1971. A son; Robert J. Sawyer Jr. and his wife Mary of Pittsfield. A sister; Diana Cahalen of Pittsfield and a brother; William Sawyer and his wife Elizabeth of Pittsfield. He also leaves a grandson; Robert J. Sawyer III and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by a brother; the late George Sawyer.

FUNERAL NOTICE: At Bob's request there are no calling hours or services. Following cremation burial will be private. Memorial donations in memory of Bob may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires in care of the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 Main St. Dalton, MA 01226 which is handling arrangements.
