Obituary for Robert C. Mitchell Sr.

Robert C. Mitchell Sr., 82, of 488 East Housatonic St. Dalton, MA died Monday at Berkshire Place of Pittsfield, MA. Born on December 2, 1932 in Middletown, NY he was the son of the late Lawrence and Minnie McCollough Mitchell. He was educated in Middletown schools and was a 1950 graduate of Middletown High School. He had resided in Dalton for the past twenty years and prior to that had resided in Gardner, NY for many years. He proudly served his country during the Korean War with the United States Army. Mr. Mitchell worked as a printer for over forty years, and served as the vice-president and general manager of Walden Printing Company in Walden, NY. He retired in 1990. He was a longtime volunteer at Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra in Lenox, MA. He enjoyed opera, theater, traveling and antiquing. He also enjoyed traveling with various senior groups and he was an avid fan of the Boston Celtics. He leaves a son: Robert C. Mitchell Jr. and his wife Patricia of Middletown, NY and two daughters; Peri L. Topel and her husband Jerry of Longview, TX and Lynn C. Predmore of Middletown, NY. Six grandchildren; Robert C. Mitchell III, Michael J. Mitchell, Carly D. Mitchell, Gavin R. Arraiz, Jerry L. Topel Jr., and Sami E. Predmore. He also leaves two great granddaughters; Lilly A. Mitchell and Malani E. Gillis as well as his longtime good friend; Ann Dulye of Pittsfield, MA. He was predeceased by his brother; the late Lawrence Mitchell.


FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service for Robert C. Mitchell Sr. who died March 16, 2015 will be held at a later date. At Bob'€™s request there will be no calling hours. Memorial donations in memory of Bob may be made to the Berkshire Music School in care of the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201 which is handling arrangements.
