Obituary for Robert J. Grandbois, Sr.

Robert Joseph Grandbois, Sr., 87 of Cheshire, passed away March 30, 2021 at Berkshire Medical Center.

He was born in Pittsfield on April 15, 1933 to Alfred F. Grandbois Jr., and Louise Jenne Grandbois.

Robert was a United States Army Veteran, having served during the Korean War as a Corporal. He was employed as a Milk Man for many years, having worked for Crescent Creamery, H.P. Hood. He also previously worked for Berkshire Woolen Mill and Pittsfield Housing Authority.

A communicant of St. Charles Church, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball. He was awarded his life membership to the Pittsfield VFW Post 448 by the State Commander of the VFW, for having over 1000 members while he was commander in 1971. He was also a life member of the Dalton American Legion Post 155.

Mr. Grandbois is survived by his companion Kathleen Hook of Cheshire; his daughter, Joan L. Hibbard of Buzzard Bay, MA; son, Robert J. Grandbois, Jr. (Peg) of Findlay, OH; three sisters, Sandra Zarn, Judith Perault and Elaine Mozden, all of Pittsfield. Grandchildren, Maria Perez-Glendinning (Chad), Valerie Perez (Micah), Anthony J. Perez (Camron), and Robert J. Grandbois, III. (Britany) Three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Richard A. Grandbois and Alfred F. Grandbois, III.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held, Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church, celebrated by Rev. John Tuohey, Pastor. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Soldier On or to Cheshire Ambulance in care of the funeral hom
