Obituary for Robert J. Fox

Robert J. Fox
Robert J. Fox, 53, of 121 Pleasantview Drive passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, June 6, 2017. Born on April 21, 1964 in Pittsfield, he was the son of the late Walter B. Fox Jr. and the late Shirley Cyr Fox.
A lifelong Dalton resident, he was educated in Dalton schools and was a 1982 graduate of Wahconah Regional High School. He then went on to graduate in 1987 from the former North Adams State College with a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in History and a minor in Political Science and Government.
At the time of his passing, Bob was employed as the Manager of Global Trade Compliance for Momentive Performance Materials of Waterford, NY. From 1987 to 1993 he served as a legislative assistant to then State Representative Sherwood Guernsey and later as a para legal for Mr. Guernsey. From 1993 to 1997 he was the supervisor of Document Retention at Information Alliance. From 1997 to 2016 he worked for GE Plastics as a Litigation and Data Resource Specialist, a Compliance Specialist, and later as a Senior Analyst of Litigation and Trade Compliance for SABIC Innovative Plastics.
Bob enjoyed coffee, good wine, spending time with friends and family, and loved talking politics and social issues. He was well known for his compassion, understanding and acceptance of all beings. He took pride, as he said, “to enjoy the companionship of every single soul who crossed my way”.
As a true testament to his spirit, Bob looked forward to an early retirement so he could freely spend his time helping others by volunteering for organizations such as The Trevor Project and other LGBTQ organizations which he had been passionately involved with for years.
He leaves his sister-in-law: Amy Fox and her husband Bart Collins of Dalton; His nephew, Shaun M. Fox of Dalton; his niece, Carrie J. Knauth and her husband Ben and their children, Jacob and William of Pittsfield. He also leaves his beloved dogs; Kayden and Kasper, as well as his close friends Mateo Martello, Jon Marks, and Diana Perez Glass, numerous relatives and work friends, and his neighborhood dog walking family.
Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by his sister; Jean Ann Fox, and by his two brothers, John M. Fox and Thomas E. Fox.
