Obituary for Robert Dargie

Robert Dargie, 74, of 137 Richmond St., died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born on July 30, 1932, in Adams, son of Henry and Eva Royal Dargie, he was educated in local schools and was a longtime resident of Cheshire.
Mr. Dargie was employed by the Teamsters Union Local 404 as a truck driver for 15 years, working throughout Berkshire County. He retired in 1978 due to poor health.
He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, where he was an church volunteer. He was a member of the Cheshire Lions Club and the Cheshire Rod & Gun Club. He also served as a water commissioner in Cheshire in the late 1950s to early '60s. Mr. Dargie enjoyed vacationing, going to the casinos and working in his yard.He and his wife, the former Helen Lyons, were married Nov. 26, 1951, in St. Mary's Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Paul J. Dargie of Adams, Timothy P. Dargie of Mount Washington and Daniel T. Dargie of Cheshire; four daughters, Deborah A. Sadowy of Pittsfield, Donna L. Hall of North Adams, Bonnie J. Dargie-Schott of Cheshire and Judith A. Spagnuolo of East Longmeadow; a sister, Dorothy Messier of Hampton; 18 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. A son, Robert P. Dargie, died in 1973, and a daughter, Kimberley A. Dargie-Hiser, died in 2004.

FUNERAL NOTICE:The funeral for Robert Dargie, who died Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, will be held tomorrow at 9:15 a.m. from DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire, celebrated by the Rev. David Raymond, pastor. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Bob was a much loved and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Tony, Michelle, Christopher, Tammie, Vincent, Anisa, Rachel, Nicholas, Ross, Hannah, Marc, Robert, Matthew, Ashley, Samantha, Katrina, Harley and Cameron; his seven great-grandchildren, Steffani, Amber, Mason, Britain, Nathan, Aiden and Selena; and his two daughters-in-law, Sheila (Dan) and Anne (Tim) Dargie. He also leaves his four sons-in-law, Mel Sadowy, James Hall, Andrew Schott and Anthony Spagnuolo; his sister-in-law, Anna Farnams; and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by five brothers and two sisters. Memorial donations in memory of Bob may be made to the Cheshire EMT Squad or to St. Mary's Church, both in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
