Obituary for Robert V. Cowdrey

Mr. Robert V. Cowdrey, 83, of 42 Dalton Division Road, Dalton, died Wednesday at Providence Care Center in Lenox where he had resided since January of 2004. Born on May 27, 1923 in Albany, NY he was the son of the late Leon and Mildred Morley Cowdrey. He was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1943 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He married his wife, the former Evelyn A. Passmore on July 7, 1951 in Pittsfield. She died on April 12, 1997. He was employed as a program planner at General Electric Company in the Ordnance Division for 34 years. He retired in 1984. He was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Pittsfield and a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners Clubs. He enjoyed camping and working around his home. He leaves two sons; Glen J. Cowdrey of Dalton and Terry C. Cowdrey of Pittsfield. He also leaves a daughter; Nancy A. Reese of Brookline, NH. Nine grandsons and three great grandsons.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A graveside service for Robert V. Cowdrey, 83, of Dalton who died May 16, 2007 will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 11:00 AM in Ashuelot Cemetery in Dalton conducted by the Rev. William Furey, pastor of Berkshire Union Chapel. There are no calling hours. Mr. Cowdrey also leaves his two daughters-in-law; Debra(Glen) Cowdrey and Nancy(Terry) Cowdrey and his son-in-law; Paul Reese. He also leaves his nine grandsons; Robbie, Justin, Brandon, Bradford, Shaun, Jacob, Ryan, Matthew and Brendon and his three great grandsons; Justin, Tyler and Connor. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association in care of the Dery-Foley Funeral Home, 890 Main St. Dalton, MA 01226 which is in charge of arrangements.
