Obituary for Robert L. Boxer

ROBERT LEWIS BOXER, 56, of 433B Crane Avenue, Pittsfield, died Tuesday evening at his home after a sudden illness. Born in Pittsfield, May 3, 1950, the son of Arthur A. and Frances C. Jaffee Boxer,he was a 1968 graduate of Pittsfield High School and had attended Berkshire Community
College. A chef by profession, he was the first Executive Chef at General Electric
Plastics. He later worked at Camp Danbee in Peru, until September 2005, as well as at
many Berkshire County restaurants, and had been Chef at Providence Care Center in
Lenox from 2000 to 2003. He had also worked at the Cumberland Farms store in Dalton
during 2003 and 2004. He was an avid New York Yankees fan, which he proudly expressed in his many letters to the Berkshire Eagle. He was also very active in the community. His
participation included cooking for the homeless at the Salvation Army, cooking for the
firefighters of 9/11, working at concession stand for North Little League for two years,
and working on the Pittsfield Parade Committee. His fondest contribution to the
community was playing Santa Claus at the Berkshire Mall.
Mr. Boxer leaves his wife, Wendy A. Hoosick, whom he married December 1, 1978. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Scott M. Hoosick of Pittsfield and Jonathan R. Boxer, at home; two daughters, Laura A. Lorance of Shrewsbury,
Massachusetts, and Amy M. Hoosick, of Pittsfield; three sisters, Ellen J. Aldrich of
West Chatham, Massachusetts, Pamela K. Duckworth of Davie, Florida, and Cynthia G.
Boxer of Kitts Hill, Ohio; and a grandson.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for ROBERT LEWIS BOXER, who died Tuesday, June 20, will
be Sunday, June 25, at 4:00 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME. Calling hours will be
Sunday, from 2:00 to 4:00 at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in
memory of Mr. Boxer may be made to Camp Danbee for a tree to be planted in his
honor. Donations can be sent to the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
He was the best husband and father, he was our strength and our hero. He will
always be loved and missed. He will never be forgotten.Mr. Boxer leaves his grandson, Zachary G. Lorance; son-in-law, Gregory
Lorance. Future daughters-in-law, Nicole Cullett and Angela Bruno. Brothers-in-law,
Frank Aldrich, Paul Duckworth, Leon Mongue, Jerry Fredrickson, Joseph Brown, Louis
Brown, Allan Brown, Paul Brown, David Brown Sr., Raymond Brown Jr., Mark Brown,
and Alan Frambach. Sisters-in-law, Arleta Fredrickson, Valerie Mongue, Nancy Brown,
Pamela Brown, Kori Brown, Kelly Brown, Nancy Ciuk, Lori Brown. Cousin, Marlene
Diamond. He also leaves many other cousins, nieces, nephews and grand nieces and
nephews.
