Obituary for Robert A. Bodine

ROBERT ALLEN BODINE, 57, of 338 Maple Street, died Sunday, at home after an eight month battle with bladder cancer.
Born in Lewes, Delaware, on April 26, 1949, and adopted at birth by Robert Allen
and Jane Williams Bodine, he grew up and attended schools in Wynnewood and Radnor,
Pennsylvania and earned his General Equivalency Diploma. He continued his
education at Prince George's Community College in Landover, Delaware, from where he
graduated with an associates degree in liberal arts in 1990. He enlisted in the Army at age 17 and volunteered for duty in Vietnam where he
was an air traffic controller attached to the Americal Division.
After his service, he worked for The Complete Strategist, a gaming store retail
chain in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, and Maryland. He retired in 1985 to be the
primary caregiver for his three children.
Mr. Bodine was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Dalton. He also was an avid reader of history and science fiction, and was a member of The Markland Medieval Mercenary Militia, a medieval reenactment and educational organization in Maryland. His greatest joy was his family.
Mr. Bodine leaves his wife, the former Martha Montague, whom he married May
5, 1984, in Alexandria, Virginia.
Besides his wife, he leaves his three children, Rachel Elizabeth, William Robert, and James Kambaya, all of Hinsdale; and a sister, Nancy King Bodine of Chester Springs, Pennsylvania.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for ROBERT A. BODINE, who died Sunday, October 1, will be
Saturday, October 7, at Grace Episcopal Church in Dalton, with Rev. Mary Schreiber
officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Maple Street Cemetery in
Hinsdale. Calling hours will be Friday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the DERY-FOLEY
FUNERAL HOME in Dalton. In consideration of family members with allergies, the
omission of flowers is requested. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr.
Bodine may be made to the Apollonian Players of Wahconah Regional High School or
to St. Agnes School Scholarship Fund in care of the Funeral Home, 890 East Main
Street, Dalton, MA 01226.
Mr. Bodine is also survived by his in-laws, Dan and Zoe Montague of West
Cummington; his sister-in-law, Melanie Carpenter of West Cummington, his brother-in-law, Daniel Montague of Owls Head, Maine. He also leaves Daniel's wife, Carolyn,and his nieces and nephews, McKey and Robert Carpenter, Cregan, Elyse, Nathaniel,and Brendan Montague, and Sevak Lafitte.
