Obituary for Rita R. Wigglesworth

RITA ROSE WIGGLESWORTH, 86, of 3 Glenns Road, Lanesborough, affectionately known as "Tati" by her friends and family, died Wednesday, June 2, on her birthday, at her home. She was a long-time resident of Lanesborough.
Born in Adams on June 2, 1924, a daughter of Levi and Mary Louise Lecuyer, she was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1942 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mrs. Wigglesworth, together with her late husband, owned and operated the West Shore Club in Lanesborough from 1946 until the late 1960s.
In 1979, Mrs. Wigglesworth went to work for the Massachusetts Trial Court where she served as a Court Officer in the Berkshire Superior Court until her retirement in 1993.
She was a communicant of St. Charles Church, and was a past member of the
Rosary Society at the former North American Martyrs Church. Mrs. Wigglesworth was a Past President of the American Legion Post 446
Ladies Auxiliary in Lanesboro and a Past Director of the Ladies Auxiliary of District 1. Every week, for many years, she went to the Veterans Administration Hospital in Northampton to work with blind soldiers.
She enjoyed traveling and vacationing with her nieces and nephews. She loved her poodles, Levi and Lena. Her husband, Wallace W. Wigglesworth, whom she married October 5, 1946, in St. Mary the Morning Star Church in Pittsfield, died August 15, 1973.
Mrs. Wigglesworth is survived by her longtime companion, Stanley Lis, of
Pittsfield; her niece and caregiver, Patricia Rivers and her husband, Bernard, of
Lanesborough, and her great niece and caregiver, Jo-Anne DeSanctis and her husband,
Gildo, of Pittsfield; as well a niece, Marie Ann Mathews of Lanesborough; three
nephews, John Barnes of Pittsfield, Richard Barnes of Pittsfield, and Robert White of the
state of NewYork, and many great and great great nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by two sisters, Lorrayne Barnes and Marie White and
by a brother, James Allen.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for RITA R. WIGGLESWORTH will be Monday, June
7, at 10:30 a.m., from DERY FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial
at 11:00 a.m., at St. Charles Church celebrated by Rev. Peter A. Gregory, Pastor.
Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours will precede the
Service from 9:30 to 10:30. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs.
Wigglesworth may be made to the Lanesborough Veterans Food Pantry or to the
Berkshire Humane Society both in care of the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54
Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
