Obituary for Rita M. Sinopoli

Rita Margaret Sinopoli, 90, of 709 Pecks Road, Pittsfield, died Friday, January 6, 2017, at
her home. Born in Cheshire on November 14, 1926, the daughter of Pietro Massaconi and Rosina Pasini Massaconi, she was educated in local schools.
Mrs. Sinopoli had been employed for many years by General Electric Company in the
Naval Ordnance Systems and Plastics Division. During those years, she also served as a Union
Steward. She retired in 1987 with 30 years service and was a member of G.E.'s Quarter Century and Pensioners Club.
She was a communicant of St. Charles Church.
She enjoyed time with her family, as well as reading and cooking.
Her husband, Joseph Frank Sinopoli, Sr., died February 25, 2005.
Mrs. Sinopoli is survived by four daughters, Rita Reagan of Dana Point, California,
Kathy Nimons of Pittsfield, Diane Slough and her husband, Tom, of Lynchburg, Virginia, and
Donna Sinopoli and her life partner, John Haddad, of Pittsfield; three sons, Charles Sinopoli and his wife, Debra, of Lanesborough, David Sinopoli and his wife, Kristin, of Pittsfield, and Albert Sinopoli and his wife, Melodie, of Pittsfield; a brother, Charles "Cheeso" Massacani, of Cheshire; a sister, Edna Gregory of Cheshire; and 19 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
She was pre-deceased by two sisters, Marie Kucka and Emma Massacani and two
brothers, Mike Massacani and Peter Massacani.


FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for Rita M. Sinopoli will be held Thursday, January 12, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Charles Church celebrated by Rev. Peter A. Gregory, Pastor. Entombment will follow in St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home in Pittsfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Society
in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
