Obituary for Rita D. Scullary
MRS. RITA D. SCULLARY, formerly of Pittsfield, passed away on Sunday,
August 2, at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Atlantis, Florida.
She was the wife of the late Judge James J. Scullary of Pittsfield who died in
2007. Born in Bennington, Vermont, on August 30, 1919, one of eight children of Eli
and Lucy Bellmare LaPorte, she attended schools in Bennington, Vermont, and was a
graduate of St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsfield.
Mrs. Scullary was a registered nurse who worked many years in the Pittsfield
hospitals. After retiring, she went on to manage the clinic at Berkshire Life Insurance
Company.
In 2008, she moved to Florida where she resided at Arbor Oaks Assisted Living.
Mrs. Scullary is survived by a son, James R. Scullary of Tucson, Arizona; a
daughter, Linda Paoli of Delray Beach, Florida; two grandchildren, James Scullary and
Suzanne Scullary; as well as two sisters, Evelyn Carelli and Genevieve Elwell.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service for RITA D. SCULLARY, who died Sunday, August 2,
will be held at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory
of Mrs. Scullary may be made to Hospice Services of Western Massachusetts in care of
DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, which is in charge of local arrangements.
