Obituary for Rita E. Lilienthal

Mrs. Rita E. Lilienthal, 82, of 47C Highview Drive, Pittsfield died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born on June 3, 1924 in Adams, MA she was a daughter of the late Peter and Mary Beaubien Gregoire. She was educated in Adams schools and was a 1942 graduate of the former Adams High School. A longtime resident of Pittsfield she had also resided in Cheshire and in Adams. She was employed as an executive secretary for twenty years in the Adams-Cheshire Regional School District having last served as the executive secretary for the superintendent of schools. She retired in 1976. She was a former communicant of Notre Dame Church in Adams. She enjoyed needlepoint, crossword puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren. She was also an avid reader. She leaves her husband, Kenneth G. Lilienthal of Pittsfield whom she married in 1979. A son, Gregory C. Marone of Winter Haven, FL and three sisters, Rose Belisle of Adams, Helen Lord of Williamstown and Dot Lefebvre of Cheshire. She also leaves a brother, Francis "Fritz" Gregoire of Lake Ranch, FL and six grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service for Rita E. Lilienthal, 82, of Pittsfield who died June 25, 2006 will be held on Thursday at 1:30 PM at the DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield conducted by the Rev. Lee Smith, chaplain at Berkshire Medical Center. Burial will take place at a later date in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM prior to the service at the Dery Funeral Home. At Mrs. Lilienthal's request she has arranged to have her body donated for medical education and research at the University of MA Medical School in Worcester. Rita also leaves her six grandchildren, Patrick, Scott and Matthew Marone and Paul, Joshua and Troy Lilienthal. She also leaves her daughter-in-law, Kristen A. Marone and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, the late Albert Gregoire. Memorial donations in memory of Mrs. Lilienthal may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
