Obituary for Rita Crocker

I lost my best friend. She passed away at Berkshire Medical Center on April 1, 2021.

Rita was born and raised in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and attended Pittsfield High School. Her contributions to the lives of many include her many years of work with Dr. Barry Lobovits, and volunteering for the Salvation Army and polling stations.

She is predeceased by her mother and father, Mary and Carmen Monterosso.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond of 64 years; her son, Dan and daughter-in-law Christy; her grandsons, Nat, and Ben and his fiancée Kristina of Anchorage, Alaska; and granddaughter Abby and her husband Zach of Hallowell, Maine; and three sisters: Carmen Walsh of Dunedin, Florida; and Gail Monterosso of Lenox, Massachusetts, and Rosemary Lahart of Lenox, Massachusetts.

The family extends gratitude to Dr. Mullally and the nurses at the Cancer Center, especially Cheryl and Sue, and the caretakers of Hospice for their compassion and support.

Rita celebrated the accomplishments of others, fiercely defended her beliefs, and was proud of her family and 83 years in Pittsfield. She is loved.

Due to Covid, there will be no calling hours. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held, THURSDAY, April 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Church, celebrated by Rev. Christopher Fedoryshyn, Pastor. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the HealthWell Foundation: https://www.healthwellfoundation.org/donate. Dery Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
