Obituary for Rita Scanlon Arico

Rita Scanlon Arico, 94, peacefully passed away on Friday, November 13, 2015 surrounded by family. Born on October 18, 1921 in Albany, NY she was the daughter of the late John and Ruth Brierly Scanlon. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother and is survived by her children; Ruth White, Rita Laviolette, Angela Harding, John Arico, Catherine Demary, Rose Saudauskas, and Elizabeth "Betsy" Arico.
She was predeceased by her husband, the late Rocco P. Arico and by her son; the late Rocco C. Arico. She also leaves nineteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
She loved to cook, bake, and crochet for the inner city missions and the veteran's homes. She also enjoyed watching her favorite Anne of Green Gables movies, go apple picking and snitch cider donuts. She was extremely grateful for her support team who cared for her on a daily basis. Her grandchildren; Jackie and Roger Hassan, Gerald R. Demary Jr., and her daughters; Betsy Arico and Cathy Demary. Her backup support of her daughters; Angela Harding and Rita Laviolette and her granddaughter; Jennifer Demary. Her warm loving smile will be greatly missed.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Rita M. Arico, 94, of Pittsfield who died November 13, 2015 will be held Wednesday at 10:15 AM from the DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church celebrated by the Rev. James Joyce, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations in memory of Rita may be made to Soldier On in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
