Obituary for Richard "Wayne" Wilbur

Richard Wayne Wilbur, Sr., 84, of 69 Orchard Road, Dalton, died April 25, 2021 at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield on March 11, 1937, the son of George and Hazel Miller Wilbur, he was a Pittsfield High School graduate, and served in the Army Reserves during the early 1960’s.

Wayne found success in numerous careers throughout his life. He spent his early years working as a vending specialist and later as a machinist at Beloit and General Electric. In his later years, he found success and ultimately fulfillment as a self-employed truck driver working side-by-side with his son Richard in the forest industry.

He enjoyed being a family man and attending sporting events with his grandchildren, which gave him some of his greatest joy.

He is survived by a brother David (wife Diane) Wilbur of Pittsfield; a son Richard (wife Brenda) Wilbur of Atlanta, Georgia; a daughter Donna Burns of Westborough, MA; five grandchildren: Alison (deceased) (husband Wren) Burns; Sarah (husband Peter) Robey; Matthew (wife Vanessa) Burns; Christopher (wife Kelsey) Wilbur; Nicholas (wife Leigh) Wilbur; and five great grandchildren, Asher, Logan, Mason, Stella, Lucas, and his special four legged companion Oliver (Toots).

Mr. Wilbur is predeceased by his wife the former Elaine E. Bosma, who died December 28, 2015.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Richard W. Wilbur Sr. will be held Saturday, June 12 at 10:00AM at Ashuelot Cemetery in Dalton, with the Rev. William Furey officiating. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Renal Dialysis 725 North St. Pittsfield, MA in care of the Dery-Foley Funeral Home, 890 E.
