Obituary for Richard P. "Rick" Salvatore Jr.

Richard P. "Rick" Salvatore, Jr., 54, of Pine Street, Dalton, a longtime Dalton resident, died Thursday, October 15, 2015, at his home after a long heartfelt battle with cancer. Born in Pittsfield on October 30, 1960, a son of the late Richard P. Salvatore, Sr., and Roberta Cornwell Salvatore, he was educated in the West Stockbridge school system and was a 1980 graduate of Monument Mountain Regional High School.
He served his country with the United States Army and Army Reserves.
For more than ten years, Mr. Salvatore was a truck driver for L.B. Corporation in Lee,
retiring on September 1, 2015, due to ill health. He had previously worked as a truck driver
for area contractors for many years.
He had been a communicant of St. Patrick Church in West Stockbridge.
Rick coached Dalton Youth Football for many years where his positive impact touched the lives of many Dalton athletes. He was also an avid Dallas Cowboys
fan. He was an avid muscle car enthusiast and enjoyed attending car shows, and also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. Spending time with family, especially his children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews was his greatest joy.
Rick leaves his wife, the former Jennifer M. Ames, whom he married October
25. 1985, in St. Agnes Church.
He is also survived by two sons, Joseph R. Salvatore and his wife, Whitney, of West
Springfield, and Samuel A. Salvatore of Dalton; a daughter, Elyssa D. Salvatore of Dalton; two
brothers, Paul W. Salvatore of Pittsfield and Michael A. Salvatore and his wife, Jessica, of
Pittsfield; a sister, Jeannine M. Salvatore and her husband, Ron Lovato, of Lee; two grand-
children, Elliana Salvatore and Avielle Tremble, and a grandson due in February 2016. He also leaves his father- and mother-in-law, Richard and Patricia Ames of Dalton, many nieces and nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law, and many close friends.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
A Graveside Service for Richard P. Salvatore will be held Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., at St. Patrick's Cemetery (Albany Road) in West Stockbridge. There are no calling hours.
A Celebration of Life will follow at the Dalton American Legion (Route 9) in Dalton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Rick may be made to the Astra Zeneca Hope Lodge Center (a non-profit organization providing lodging for families undergoing cancer treatment)
or to HospiceCare in The Berkshires both in care of DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890
East Main Street, Dalton.
