Obituary for Richard Frederick "Dick" Murdock

Richard “Dick” Frederick Murdock, 89 of Richmond, MA, passed away on December 4, 2021 at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield on June 18, 1932 to John and Maude Beck Murdock, he was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. Growing up he served as an altar boy at St. Marks Church.

Mr. Murdock was a decorated United States Navy Veteran, having proudly served during the Korean War. He was a self-employed contractor for many years and was a member of the VFW, and the American Legion. In his younger years, he was an avid golfer, winning many city championships. Dick was a beloved New York Yankees fan. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Dick took pride in gardening and spent many hours keeping his yard and garden beds meticulously manicured.

Dick is survived by his loving companion of over thirty-five years, Elizabeth Bruzzi. He leaves behind his children, Vicki Murdock, Richard Murdock, Jr. (Lana), Steven Murdock (Kimberly), Jeffrey Murdock (Pablo), Michael Murdock (Storme) and Barry Murdock (Ernie). A sister, Sharon Corrigan (Tom). He was predeceased by his brothers, John and Robert, as well as his sisters, Kathleen, Gloria, Connie, Doris and Joanne. He also leaves his thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours for Mr. Murdock will be held, FRIDAY, December 10, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME. A private family Graveside service with Military Honors will follow, celebrated by Father Peter A. Gregory, Pastor Emeritus of St. Charles Church. Due to COVID-19, face masks will be required.
