Richard A. Jones, Sr., 86 of 100 Balance Rock Road, Lanesboro, MA, passed away April 16, 2018 at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.

He was born in Pittsfield on August 28, 1931 to the late Arthur W and Emily Dubois Jones. He attended local schools. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving from 1954 to 1955.

He was a steam fitter and was a member of the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters for 40 years, retiring in 1986. Dick enjoyed bee keeping, fishing, gardening, horticulture and was an avid reader.

He leaves his son, Richard A. Jones, Jr., and his fiancée Sandy Cultrera of Pittsfield; three daughters, Tina Johnson of Upton, MA, Geraldine “Gerry” Higgins and her husband Thomas of Peru, MA, and Lorraine Jones of Pittsfield. He also leaves his eight grandchildren, Kerri, Holly and Katie Johnson, Jillian McNeill, Casey Jones, Lindsay Petkus, Luke Dodge and Callie Higgins. He was predeceased by his former wife, P. Helen Lester Jones, and five brothers, William, Raymond, Robert, Francis and John Jones.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours for Richard will be held, Sunday April 22, 2018 from 2:00pm-4:00pm at Dery Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Cardiac Rehab Program at BMC in care of the funeral home.
