Obituary for Richard D. Forte

Richard Dominic Forte, age 60, of Appleton Avenue, died --Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Hillcrest Commons Nursing Home. He was born in Pittsfield on June 2, 1956, the son of the late Attilio L. and Theresa A. Battaini Forte. He was educated in Pittsfield schools and graduated in 1975 from St. Joseph High School. He continued his education and graduated with a bachelor's degree from the former North Adams State College (now MCLA).
Richard was employed in retail sales in various locations throughout the Berkshires. He had previously worked as a chemist for the former Sprague Electric Company, and had also been an owner of the West Side Clock Shop.
Richard is survived by: several cousins, aunts, and uncles; his loving companion: Linda M. Therrien with whom he lived; and many friends. He was pre-deceased by his sister Anna Forte.
Richard was a gentle soul who loved life and nature. He enjoyed hiking in different forests and feeding ducks at the Onota Lake. He had a keen appreciation of classical music and classic Rock especially The Beatles. He enjoyed old movies and TV shows. Bewitched, Batman, James Bond, science fiction and monster movies were some of his favorites. He was an expert in trivia questions and a big fan of Jeopardy. He was also an avid lover of flea markets. Besides his hobbies, he cherished spending time with his goddaughter Martine. Richard loved his family and friends, and was always ready to help others.

FUNERAL NOTICE Funeral services will be SATURDAY, JUNE 18, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield with Msgr. Michael A. Shershanovich officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be SATURDAY from 9:00 until 10:00 at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the Dery Funeral Home to assist with final expenses.
