Obituary for Richard A. Brooks

Richard A. Brooks, 85, of Dalton, died at home on February 5, 2021.

Born in Pittsfield on July 9, 1935, he was the son of the late Arthur and Helen Doyle Brooks. He was a graduate of the former Dalton High School, Class of 1953.

Dick served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany from 1956-1958. He was employed for 30 years at General Electric Ordnance Systems. Among his many hobbies, he was a private pilot, a member of the Civil Air Patrol, a drummer and band leader of the Castaways for many years, and an avid military vehicle collector.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy, and his daughter Lynn Wise and husband Edward. Also, grandchildren Brian Wise and fiancée Grace Kieber, and Kristie Wise Avrett and husband Jamey. He has two great grandchildren.

Dick was predeceased by his sister, Beverly and her husband Bernard Krause.

There will be no calling hours or services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dalton Ambulance & Rescue in care of the Dery Funeral Home.
