Obituary for Regina L. Decker (Archey)

Regina L. Archey Decker, 84, formerly of Windsor Avenue, Pittsfield, passed away November 20, 2022 at Melbourne Place.

Born in Pittsfield on September 14, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Leah Hooper Archey.
She was a 1956 graduate of St. Joseph High School and then continued her education at Our Lady of The Elms College.

Regina was married to Walter E. “Ned” Decker for 50 years. Mrs. Decker was a teacher in the Pittsfield Public Schools at Tucker School from 1960 to 1965. She left teaching to stay home and raise her 5 children. She then was employed from 1984 to 1991 as a teacher at Sacred Heart School.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, was a talented seamstress and enjoyed baking. Mrs. Decker was a religious education teacher at Notre Dame Church, prior to becoming the CCD Coordinator.

She is survived by her children, Stephen M. Decker(Victoria) of Bluffton, SC, Karen R. Kellar(Ted) of Cheshire, Ellen M. Farley(Dan) of East Greenbush, NY, Elizabeth A. Eberth(Mark) of Rockland, MA, and Jennifer L. Parsons(Bob) of Pittsfield; fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; her sister, Patricia Archey of South Hadley, MA; her brothers, Edward Archey Jr.(Donna) of Troy, MI, Richard Archey of Lenox, and Lawrence Archey (Susan) of Wilbraham, Ma; her sister in-law, Barbara Wilson of Dalton, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Gladys Hajicek, Jeanne Archey, and Joan Monterosso.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Regina’s private aide, Laura, the entire staff at Melbourne Place, and Hospice of Western MA.

Funeral Notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held, Monday, November 28, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held, Sunday, November 27, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Joseph Church or to the American Parkinson’s Disease Association in care of the funeral Home.
