Obituary for Rebecca Lowell Paquette

REBECCA CADY LOWELL PAQUETTE, 66, of 57 Apple Tree Lane, Dalton, died Monday morning at her home after a long, brave battle with pheochromocytoma. Born in Oneida, New York, January 4, 1940, the daughter of the late Beecher
and Clara Leaf Cady, she graduated from Utica Free Academy High School and attended
McMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois.
Mrs. Paquette was recently retired from the Pittsfield Generating Company where
she worked for 15 years as the Human Resources Manager. Before that, she was a
manager for Boston Mutual Insurance. In the 1970s, she was the owner of the Dalton
Package Store while working at the District Court of Berkshire County. Always active in her community, Mrs. Paquette was a two-term moderator for the Town of Dalton, a member of the Pittsfield Rotary Club from 2001 to 2004, the Pittsfield Chamber of Commerce, YMCA Board of Directors, the United Way, and well as several
other civic organizations. She was active in state and local political campaigns and
belonged to a local bridge club, as well as an Austin Healy sports car club.
Her favorite volunteer activity was the Allendale School "Partners in Education"
program. For 15 years, she helped organize many special events. Among her treasured
memories at Allendale School included when she and a stuffed "Piggy" read stories and
and served ice cream to the children.
Family was important to her, and as a single mother for many years, she was very
important to her family. She adored spending time with her grandchildren.
She and her husband, Gerald E. Paquette, would have celebrated their tenth anniversary this October 5. Besides her husband, Mrs. Paquette leaves three sons, James R. Lowell, Jr., of
Colts Neck, New Jersey, Dennis M. Lowell of Amherst, New Hampshire, David C.
Lowell of Panama City Beach, Florida; a daughter, Amy E. Lowell-Warner of Charlotte,
North Carolina; a brother, George B. Cady of Syracuse, New York; two stepdaughters,
Cynthia Begando of Canyon Lake, California and Christine Shield of Orange, California,
and ten grandchildren.
