Obituary for Raymomd Wisner Jr.

Mr. Raymond "Chester" Wisner Jr., 85, of 15 Day Street, Pittsfield a former longtime resident of Dalton, died Saturday at Hillcrest Commons where he resided since August of 2004. Born on February 5, 1921 in Easthampton, MA he was the son of the late Raymond C. Wisner Sr. and the late Prudence Campbell Wisner. He was educated in Worthington, Easthampton and Dalton schools and attended the former Dalton High School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict having served as an aviation radioman. He was employed for thirty-three years at General Electric in Pittsfield as an electronics technician. He retired in 1983. Prior to working at General Electric he was a carpenter. He was a member of Christian Assembly Church in Pittsfield. He was also a member of the Berkshire Radio Club in Dalton, the Antique Wireless Association and the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners Clubs. An avid radio collector, he had a great interest in electronics and music. He enjoyed traveling, playing the guitar, fishing and deep sea fishing. He was also an outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking and motorcycle riding with his wife. He leaves his wife, the former Marie L. Petersen of Pittsfield whom he married on January 28, 1945 in Rutherford, NJ. Two sons, Keith R. Wisner of Hinsdale and Douglas C. Wisner of Pittsfield. He also leaves a sister, Claire Higgins of Redding, CA and three grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Raymond "Chester" Wisner Jr., 85, former longtime Dalton resident who died July 8, 2006 will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM at Christian Assembly Church in Pittsfield conducted by the Rev. Joseph Nieves, pastor. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM at the Dery Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Mr. Wisner also leaves his three grandchildren, Justin, Jared and Raelyn Wisner. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Christian Assembly Church Building Fund or to Hospice Care in the Berkshires both in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
