Obituary for Ralph W. Hawkins

RALPH WILLIAM HAWKINS, 64, of Capitol Square Apartments, died Wednesday, February 27, at Springside of Pittsfield, where he had resided for the past two and a half years.
Born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, August 4, 1943, the son of Herbert C. and Marie Morrisey Hawkins, he was a 1961 graduate of Lee High School. He served as an officer in the Coast Guard Reserves for 32 years.
Mr. Hawkins was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a negotiator in the Right-of-Way Bureau of Mass Highway Department in Lenox. He retired in 2000 with more than 40 years service. During the 1960s he had been a radio announcer for WBRK. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the American Legion Post 68.
Mr. Hawkins leaves his wife, the former Margaret M. Morandi, whom he married
November 19, 1966. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Dr. Jeffrey M. Hawkins of Collinsville,Oklahoma; a daughter, Brenda M. Hawkins-Leahy of Cummings, Georgia; a sister,
Harriet Hawkins-Hanies of New York City; two grandchildren, Aidan Patrick Leahy
and Fiona Mary Leahy; son-in-law, Peter Leahy; mother-in-law, Charlotte Morandi of
Lee; two nephews, Lucas Hanies and Zackery Hanies, a great nephew, James, and many
cousins.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for RALPH WILLIAM HAWKINS will be private with burial
to be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Lee. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers,
contributions in memory of Mr. Hawkins may be made to HospiceCare in The Berkshires
in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
