Obituary for Preston Gillyard
Preston Gillyard, 77, of 117 Dewey Avenue died Saturday at Albany Medical Center. Born on March 29, 1938 in Madison, FL he was a son of the late Willie and Florida Gillyard. He was educated in Madison, FL schools and came to Pittsfield in the 1960's. He was predeceased by his wife, the late Florine Keaton Gillyard who died November 1, 2008. Preston was employed as a Quality Control Technician at Crane & Company in Dalton for thirty-five years. He retired in 2000. He was a member of Reigning Love Church. He enjoyed cooking, mowing lawns and traveling. He also enjoyed following the New York Yankees. He leaves a son; Preston L. Gillyard of Pittsfield. Six daughters; Barbara J. Keaton , Betty J. Pinkston and her husband Darryl, Izzy V. Gillyard, Ola M. Gillyard-Davis and her husband Charles, Paula McKinley and her husband George all of Pittsfield and Yvette Fowlkes-Bragdon of Maryland. He also leaves three sisters; Bloneitha Williams of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Geneitha West of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Mary Hodges of Georgia. Two brothers; Leroy Gillyard and his wife Frances of Madison, FL and James Gillyard and his wife Wanda of Live Oak, FL. He also leaves several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Florine and by a brother; the late Willie Gillyard.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Preston Gillyard, 77, of Pittsfield who died July 11, 2015 will be held Thursday, July 16, at 12:00 Noon at Reigning Love Church conducted by the Rev. Philip Thurmond, pastor. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on
