Obituary for Peter T. Niarchos

PETER THOMAS NIARCHOS, 87, of 28 Melecca Avenue, Pittsfield, died
Sunday afternoon at Williamstown Commons, where he had resided the past three
months. Born in Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts, September 16, 1920, a son of Thomas and
Helen Petras Niarchos, he was a graduate of Pittsfield High School and a 1950 graduate
of Clark University where he earned an associates in business administration.
A World War II veteran, he served with the Army Air Forces from 1942 to 1946.
Mr. Niarchos was employed by General Electric Company as a foreman in the Regulators and Transformers Department. He retired in 1985 with 40 years service.
He was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and of its AHEPA men's group. He was a member of the G.E. Quarter Century and Pensioners Clubs, and Wahconah Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf. He lettered in tennis at Clark University and enjoyed playing tennis for many years after.
Mr. Niarchos leaves his wife, the former Georgia Spring, whom he married
May 20, 1951.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Peter Niarchos of Williston, Vermont;
a brother, Dean T. Niarchos of Pittsfield; and two grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for PETER THOMAS NIARCHOS, who died Sunday,
November 25, will be Thursday, November 29, beginning at 10:15 a.m., at DERY
FUNERAL HOME, continuing at 10:30 a.m., at St. George Greek Orthodox Church,
with Rev. Fr. Constantine C. Cambas, Priest, officiating. Burial will follow in
Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be today [Wednesday] from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at
the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Niarchos may be
made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the American Cancer Society, both in care
of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield
Mrs. Niarchos leaves his daughter-in-law, Pamela Charron Niarchos, and his
two grandchildren, Paige and Mitchell. He was pre-deceased by brothers, John,
Steven, George, and Michael, and his sister, Lola.
