Obituary for Peter Joseph Coviello

Peter Joseph Coviello, 29, of Swan Street, Pittsfield, Massachusetts, was called home to heaven suddenly and unexpectedly at Berkshire Medical Center on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, as a result of complications from a congenital heart disease (hypoplastic left heart syndrome).
Born on April 12, 1988, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Peter was the son of John and Irene (Light) Coviello of Dalton. Peter grew up in Dalton and attended schools there. He graduated from Wahconah Regional High School in 2006 and Hudson Valley Community College in 2008 with a degree in Electrical Construction and Maintenance.
Peter worked at Planet Fitness, Armored Solutions, and as an electrical apprentice for his father at Coviello Electric. He most recently worked at NRG Solar in Chicopee, Massachusetts.
Peter found the true love of his life and soul mate in his wife, Kathryn Coviello (Hermanski). They were married on September 17, 2016, and were just settling into their new home, together with their constant companion, their chocolate lab, Teddy. Family members agree that God left Peter on this earth long enough for him to meet Kathryn and be as happy as he could possibly be, before He called him home.
Peter was a kind, gentle, and loving man with an adventurous spirit. He was a proud Italian, and an exceptional cook. He especially loved tasting new foods. There was nothing he wouldn’t try, and no one loved seafood more than he did. You could find him deep-sea fishing off the Jersey Shore or in Myrtle Beach, where he spent many happy family vacations. He enjoyed hunting and fishing during weekends at a cabin in Canada with his cousins and uncles, kicking back with a cigar and a glass of Johnny Walker Blue. He loved the New York Giants, Harrison Ford, singing to the Oldies, working on his new home, Rocky movies, and making terrible puns. Peter was a generous soul who always looked after those around him and went the extra mile to help anyone who needed it.
Peter was truly a good man—the best of the best. He will be forever in the hearts of his wife, parents, and siblings, as well as the hearts of all who knew him. In addition to his wife and parents, Peter is survived by his 7 siblings: John (Jeanna) of Silver Spring, Maryland; Elizabeth Chivers, (Joshua) of East Lyme, Connecticut; Matthew of Troy, New York; Rosemary Finn (Daniel) of Valatie, New York; Mark (Nicole) of Pittsfield, Massachusetts; Luke of Framingham, Massachusetts, and Anthony of Dalton, Massachusetts.
Peter is also survived by his father-in-law Daniel Hermanski of Pittsfield; as well as his sister-in-law, Jennifer Hermanski of Pittsfield; his brother-in-law Captain Daniel Hermanski (Sharlene) of Pikeville, North Carolina; and his grandfather Leonard Light (Joanna) of Arizona. He was the fun loving “Uncle Pete” to J.J., Lily, Dominic, Joey, Erin, Ryan, Madison, Ace, Dax, Evalynn, and Isaac.
Peter had many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins who were very close to him. He was predeceased by his grandparents, John and Alice Coviello and Rosemary Light; his mother-in-law, Linda Hermanski; and his beloved uncle Buzzy Coviello.
The family asks you to join us as we say farewell to our dear Peter with calling hours at Sacred Heart Parish, 191 Elm Street in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, on Monday, June 5 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place at Sacred Heart on Tuesday, June 6 at 11:00am, with Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, presiding, and Rev. Michael F. Bernier and Deacon Robert R. Esposito, concelebrating. Peter will be laid to rest at Saint Joseph’s Cemetery in Pittsfield immediately following the ceremony.
