Obituary for Pauline Rodrigues

Pauline Rodrigues, 90, of Pittsfield died peacefully Tuesday, December 13, 2022, surrounded by her family after a short stay at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility

Pauline was born in Pittsfield, the daughter of John and Stacia (née Jankowski) Skowron, on June 11, 1932. She graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1950.

She married Benjamin (Benny) Rodrigues on July 4, 1953. The couple were employed by the Schaefer Eaton company from 1951 until the facility was closed. Pauline worked in the Envelope / At A Glance department.

Pauline was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed Saturday Bingo at St. Mark’s Church and attending penny socials. She and husband Benny also enjoyed their jaunts to the Mohegan Sun accompanied by daughter Cindy

Pauline’s husband Benny died May 4, 2014. She is survived by her three children; Cynthia J. Williams (David) of Pittsfield, Pamela J. Wilson (Arthur) of Pittsfield, and Andre J. Rodrigs (Connie) of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

She leaves six grandchildren; Amber Williams, Gabe Rodrigs, Hana Kenny (Jeremy), Eliza Rodrigs, Taylor Rodrigs, and Shane Rodrigs (Natasha).

She also leaves five great grandchildren; Avery Blankenship, Milo Kenny, Andrew Rodrigs, Chelsea Rodrigs, and Benjy Rodrigs.

She leaves a brother, Peter Skowron of Jacksonville, Florida, as well as several nieces and nephews. All were beloved, but Marvee Ainsworth was a favorite.

She was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters; Fred Skowron, John Skowron Jr., Joseph Skowron, Richard Skowron, Mary Batory, and Barbara Furtek.
Pauline loved this time of year - hosting holiday gatherings with family, friends, and neighbors dropping in to enjoy the food, drink, and company until her later years. Even when unable to host, she loved sharing in the festivities. She also looked forward to shopping trips with her daughters which, of course, always included lunch.

Although we are saddened by our loss, the family is grateful beyond measure to her daughter Cindy for her years of devoted service to our mother. The daily care, chauffeuring service, and emergency care, not to mention the management of the paperwork enabled her to fulfill her fondest wish - to remain in her own home for her final years.
