Obituary for Paul J. Cuddihy Sr.

Paul James Cuddihy Sr, 87, of Monteleone Place, died peacefully at BMC on Saturday, January 24, 2015, surrounded in love by his family.
Paul was born in Springfield, MA on October 8, 1927, the son of Claude P. and Grace
Westling Cuddihy. He served in the United States Navy during World War II as a Seaman 2nd
Class aboard the U.S.S. Shenandoah.
Paul married his beloved wife, Lucy Barton Cuddihy on October 24, 1953.
He worked for the Noble & Cooley Drum Company in Granville MA in his youth. Later,
he worked for Phair Electric, and ultimately retired after working for the Town of Dalton.
Paul and Lucy loved to go square dancing together; he loved to listen to country music
and polka music. And of course, he loved watching his Boston Red Sox.
Paul leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years, Lucy Barton Cuddihy, his five children:
Paul J. Cuddihy Jr. and wife Christina, David B. Cuddihy, Michael D. Cuddihy, Timothy P.
Cuddihy and wife Linda, Melissa A. Gallup and husband Colin. He also leaves his
grandchildren: Michael Burtt, Kayla Markham, Chauncey Burtt, Jason Cuddihy, Sarah
Cuddihy, Brianne Gallup, Kyle Gallup, and Keenan Gallup. Additionally, he leaves six great
grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Paul was predeceased by his brother George and his sister Margaret.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Paul J. Cuddihy Sr., 87, who died January 24, 2015, will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at the DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield conducted by the Rev. Joel Huntington, pastor of South Congregational Church. Burial with military honors will take place in the spring in North Becket Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 PM at the Dery Funeral Home. Memorial donations in memory of Paul may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
