Obituary for Patricia A. Leach

Patricia A. Leach, 74, of 65 Clydesdale Drive, Pittsfield, died Tuesday, May 7,
2013, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Franklin, MA on October 18, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Irene Moore Genoa. She was educated in Franklin schools and was a 1956 graduate of Franklin High School. She then went on to earn her nursing degree in 1959 from the Milford Hospital School of Nursing in Milford, MA
A longtime Pittsfield resident, Mrs. Leach had been a Registered Nurse at the former Hillcrest Hospital for thirty years. She later went on to work as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor in the McGee Unit at Hillcrest Hospital for ten years.She retired in the 1990's.
She had been a communicant of the former St. Teresa Church.
A "Hockey Mom", Mrs. Leach and her late husband Ron were instrumental in the organization of the Gib Kittredge Youth Hockey Tourney, and spent countless hours at the hockey and skating rink with their children and grandchildren.She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events.
Pat was passionate about the rescue of Greyhound dogs and was supportive of the Greyhound Rescue Foundation.She also enjoyed toll painting and going to the beach.
Her husband, Ronald M. Leach, whom she married June 4, 1960 at St. Mary's Church in Franklin, MA, died May 16, 2007.
She is survived by her son, Steven J. Leach, and his wife, Trista, of Pittsfield;
four grandchildren, Kayla J. Hayes and her husband, James, and their son, Spencer, of
Easthampton; Gary F. Leach and his wife, Lauren, and their soon-to be-expected son,
Cameron, of Asheville, North Carolina, Morganne A. Foley of Pittsfield, and Shaun M.
Leach of Texas.
She was pre-deceased by a son, Gary M. Leach, who died August 2, 198l, and by
a sister, the late Frances Beaudette.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for Patricia A. Leach will be held Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 9:30 a.m.,
at DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield with Rev. Peter M. Naranjo, II., Parochial Vicar of Sacred Heart Church, officiating.Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.Calling hours will be Friday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Pat may be made to Moments House of Pittsfield in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
Moments House is a warm home-like daytime facility on Fenn St. for all Berkshire County residents living with a cancer diagnosis as well as their families and a support system to come to for information and support.
