Obituary for Norman Carmel

Norman  Carmel
Norman J. Carmel, age 89, formerly of Peru Road, Hinsdale. He was born on August 19, 1928 in Hinsdale, MA, the son of the late Earl E. and Ruth Sherman Carmel. He was educated in area schools and was a 1944 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

Mr. Carmel was the owner/operator of the Hinsdale Service Station for many years. He had also worked for the Central Berkshire Regional School District for many years, retiring in September 1993. He was a communicant of St. Agnes Church in Dalton. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and hunting.

Mr. Carmel married his wife: Evelyn Grace Bean on July 13, 1957.

Besides his wife, Mr. Carmel is survived by his brother: Louis (and Pauline) Carmel of Hinsdale; his sister in-law Jeanne Carmel of New Hampshire; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Earl E. Carmel, Jr.

FUNERAL NOTICE ; Funeral services for Mr. Carmel will be held, Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 11:00am at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in Dalton, celebrated by Rev. Christopher Malatesta. Calling hours will precede the service from 9:30-11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name to the Eleanor Sonsini Shelter, in care of the funeral home.
