Obituary for Nina M. Bowers

Nina M. LaMountain Bowers, 60, of 440 North Street, Dalton, died at her home after a seven-year battle with cancer on January 24, 2009. She was born in Pittsfield on February 27, 1948 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine (Matheson) LaMountain. She was a 1965 graduate of Wahconah High School and attended Berkshire Community College. She married her husband William C. Bowers of Dalton on July 3, 1993. She was an insurance administrator for 15+ years at Peter Smith Insurance, and retired in 2002. She enjoyed tending to her many flower and vegetable gardens at Mill Pond Farm with her husband. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, running, and cross country skiing. She competed in the Josh Billings Run Aground and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Besides her husband she leaves four children, Christopher Trager and his wife Vicki Ann of Dalton, Stephanie Trager of Dalton, Eric Trager and his wife Dulcie of Red Lodge, MT, and Jeremy Trager and his wife Colleen of Dalton. Her step daughter Katie Mae Bowers of Tolland, CT, two brothers Robert "Tex" LaMountain of Greenfield, MA, and Dennis LaMountain of Richmond, VA, one sister Virginia Larson of Manlius, NY, and eight grandchildren.

Funeral Notice: Calling hours for Nina Bowers will be at Dery-Foley Funeral Home on Friday, January 30th from 4 -7 PM. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 31st at 2PM at the First Congregational Church at 514 Main Street in Dalton. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to Hospice Care In The Berkshires in care of the funeral home: 890 Main Street, Dalton, MA 01226.
