Obituary for Mildred Mary "Mickey" Plankey

Mildred Mary Plankey (Mickey) 93, of Pittsfield, passed away peacefully with family by her side August 21, 2022 at Berkshire Medical Center.

She was born in Adams, MA on March 2, 1929 to John Kawa and Mary Kupiec Kawa, and was educated in Adams Schools. She was a 1948 graduate of Adams High School.
Mildred married Ronald E. Plankey on September 1, 1956. This year Mickey and Ron would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. She proudly dedicated her life to being a homemaker, wife, mom and grandmother. Prior to her marriage, she was employed at Sprague Electric.

A communicant of St. Charles Church, Mickey very much looked forward to being with her grandsons, summer vacations on Cape Cod & Misquamicut Beach, RI and winter trips to Florida. She loved going to picnics, listening to audiobooks and sitting by the water at Onota Lake. She was an expert at cooking Polish cuisine and was especially known for her golumpki, perogies, kapusta and borscht.

Mildred is survived by her husband Ronald E. Plankey of Pittsfield. Daughter, Ann Marie Plankey (son-in-law Matthew Ringie) of Holliston, MA, Son, Ronald J. Plankey (daughter-in-law Judy) of Surprise, AZ; and two grandsons, Timothy and Michael Ringie. She was predeceased by her son, Michael S. Plankey.

Funeral Notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held, THURSDAY, August 25, 2022 at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church, celebrated by Rev. Peter A. Gregory, Pastor Emeritus. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held, WEDNESDAY, August 24, 2022 from 4 to 7 p.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mickey's name to the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind in care of the funeral home.
