Obituary for Michaele F. Degnan

Michaele F. Degnan, 75, of 225 Connecticut Avenue, Pittsfield, died Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield as a result of a sudden stroke.
Born in North Adams on January 17, 1939, the daughter of Burton and Mary Lally Amidon, she was a 1957 graduate of St. Joseph Central High School and a 1959 graduate of the Ward (IBM) School in Albany.
Mrs. Degnan was employed as a data entry processor in the Ordnance Systems Division of
General Electric Company and its successor Lockheed Martin Corporation from where she retired
in 1995 with a total of 25 years service.
From 1995 to 2000, she worked for Ad Lib Center for Independent Living and for Molari
Temporary Services.
She attended the First Congregational Church in Dalton.
Mrs. Degnan was kind, compassionate, and always willing to help a person in need. She was
well-respected in the community, and her passing was a tremendous loss.
Mrs. Degnan is survived by her son, Michael S. Degnan, her daughter-in-law, Mary Degnan, and her grandsons, Nicholas Degnan and Shaun Degnan, all of Lamar, Colo.; her daughters, Kathleen E.
Degnan and Sheryl Degnan, both of Pittsfield; her three brothers, Burton Amidon of Dalton, Bruce
Amidon of Florida, and Brian Amidon of Pittsfield; as well as her former husband, Kirby A. Degnan of
Naples, Fla.
She was pre-deceased by her father, Burton Amidon, and her mother, Mary Amidon; and a
daughter, Deborah A. Degnan.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for Michaele F. Degnan will be held Tuesday, August 26, at 9:00 a.m., at DERY
FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church. Burial will follow In Southview Cemetery in North Adams. Calling hours will be Monday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple
Sclerosis Society in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
