Obituary for Michael A. Goerlach

Michael A. Goerlach, 61, of 110 Old Windsor Road, Hinsdale, died Tuesday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born on November 19, 1953 in Hollywood, FL he was a son of the late Alfred M. Goerlach Sr. and the late Nancy Roth Goerlach. A longtime Hinsdale resident, he was educated in Hinsdale and Dalton schools and was a 1972 graduate of Wahconah Regional High School. He also attended Paul Smith College. Mike was employed as a mechanic for many years, having worked for County Concrete, BETNR Construction, Lee Lime and Oldcastle Stone Products of Lee. He retired in 2013. He was very active in Dalton Youth Football and was a coach for Dalton Babe Ruth Baseball for several years. He was a member of the Tunnel City Bass Club and the Windsor Rod & Gun Club. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. A handyman, he especially enjoyed helping others. He leaves his wife; the former Mary Cornwell of Hinsdale whom he married on April 17, 1975. Two daughters; Marta E. Goerlach and her fiancé Michael L. Kinney of Hinsdale, and Callen M. Goerlach and her boyfriend; Mark Geibel of Hinsdale. Three sons; Matthew R. Goerlach of Hinsdale, Nathan D. Goerlach and his wife Shannon of Hinsdale and Jordan A. Goerlach of Hinsdale. A brother; Alfred M. Goerlach Jr. and his wife Debbie of Dalton and two sisters; Heidi G. Cornwell of Hinsdale and Rothann L. Goerlach of Dalton. He also leaves three grandchildren; Paige, Sebastian and Gabriel.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A graveside service for Michael A. Goerlach of Hinsdale who died November 17, 2015 will be held Saturday at 12 Noon in East Windsor Cemetery on Worthington Road in Windsor conducted by the Rev. Christopher Malatesta, pastor of St. Agnes Church in Dalton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in memory of Michael may be made to his family to help with funeral expenses in care of the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 Main St. Dalton, MA 01226 which is handling arrangements.
