Obituary for Michael J. Gennari

Michael John Gennari, 59, of 1111 West James Street, Kent, Washington and formerly of Pittsfield, Ma. died Friday December 3, 2010 at his home in Washington State. Born on December 21, 1950 in Pittsfield a son of the late Gino John Gennari, Sr. and Rose Marie Aulisi Gennari. He attended schools in Pittsfield and was a 1968 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
He was a 1972 graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY where he received his B.S. in Engineering Science with a major concentration in applied mathematics; He also received his Masters Degree in Engineering Science with a major concentration in computer science, both at RPI in 1973. He also was a graduate of Columbia University in New York City where he received his Professional Degree in Electrical Engineering with a major in concentration in systems engineering. From 1974 until 1975 he was employed at Raytheon Company, Equipment Development Laboratory in Wayland, Ma. From March until August of 1978 he had been employed at Litton Systems, Guidance and Control Systems Division in California. From 1983 until October of 1988 he had been employed at Kearfott Guidance and Navigation Corporation in Wayne, NJ. From 1989 until February 1991 he was employed at General Dynamics Corporation in Fort Worth, Texas as an engineering specialist. From 1991 until February 1995 he worked at Boeing Defense and Space Group, Helicopters Division as senior engineering technical specialist, Avionics Systems Dept. From May of 1998 until his retirement in 2005 he was principal engineer, attitude control systems group with Boeing Defense and Space Group, Space and Communications Division in Washington State. Michael enjoyed the arts, science, mathematics, traveling and his family. He played the saxophone and enjoyed Jazz music. He is survived by two brothers, Gino J. Gennari, Jr. of Pittsfield and Paul A. Gennari and his wife Miriam of Arlington, VA; Two sisters, Maria E. Gennari of Pittsfield and Rosemary J. Gennari-Leal and her husband Vincent of Broomfield, CO;
Four nieces, Teresa Ann Rusin, Briana Nicole Rusin, Rose Fatima Gennari and Oneida Summer Leal. He was predeceased by a sister, Cynthia Rose Gennari in 1990.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, Ma. with the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS officiating. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's Food Pantry, the Christian Center or the Salvation Army all in care of the funeral home.
