Obituary for Matthew D. Masiero

Matthew David Masiero, 34, of 171 Magnolia St. Dorchester, MA and formerly of Pittsfield died December 25, 2006, at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. Born in Pittsfield, MA on March 16, 1972 he was the son of the late Francis Masiero and his mother the former Patricia Kipp Masiero Meader. He was educated in Pittsfield schools and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1990 and Indiana State University in 1994. He later graduated from UMass Boston in 1998 where he earned his master's degree. Mr. Masiero was a teacher at the Jeremiah E. Burke High School as well as other Boston Public Schools. He had worked in the Special Education areas for 12 years. He was the director of the Five Star Women's Basketball Camp from 1998 until the present, he also served as the associate men's basketball coach at UMass Boston from 1994-1998 and the varsity girls basketball coach from 2001-2003 at Jeremiah Burke High School. Besides his mother of Pittsfield he leaves his wife, Christine Brown Masiero of Detroit, MI whom he married in 2005, his sister Teresa Goines of Pittsfield and a step son, Justin Cotton of Detroit, MI and a step daughter, Amber Williams also of Detroit, MI. He also leaves his step father, John Meader of Pittsfield, and a step brother Thomas Meader of Parachute, CO and his step sister, Diane Leibinger of Switzerland.

Funeral Notice: Funeral Services for Matthew D. Masiero, 34, who died Monday, December 25, 2006 will be held Friday Dec. 29, 2006 at 9:15 from the DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Church celebrated by Rev. Monsignor Michael Shershanovich, pastor. Burial will follow in St' Patrick's Cemetery in West Stockbridge. Calling hours at the Dery Funeral Home will be from 4-8 PM on Thursday Dec. 28, 2006. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Jeremiah E. Burke High School Athletic Department in care of the Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
