Obituary for Matthew T. Farrell

Matthew T. Farrell, 46, of 293 High Street, Dalton, died Friday at home. Born on May 31, 1964 in Pittsfield, he was a son of the late John E. and Carol Morrison Farrell. A lifelong resident of Dalton, he was educated in Dalton schools and was a 1978 graduate of St. Agnes School and a 1982 graduate of Wahconah Regional High School. Matt was employed for many years as a laborer for Unistress, Neil Vreeland Foundations and F&S Foundations of Dalton. He was a communicant of St. Agnes Church and a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #155 in Dalton. He also belonged to the laborers union and he was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #411 of Dalton. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He leaves his son; Kyle M. Farrell of Dalton and two daughters; Carley E. Farrell of Dalton and Katey M. Farrell of Adams. Six brothers; John E. Farrell, Jr., and his wife, Minnie,
of Gulfport, Mississippi, James M. Farrell and his wife, Mary, of Pownal, Vermont,
Joseph K. Farrell and his wife, Sue, of Longwood, Florida, Jeffrey B. Farrell and his
wife, Theresa, of Dalton, Mark F. Farrell and his wife, Linda, of Peru, and Peter J. Farrell of Dalton; three sisters, Susan F. Haddad, and her husband, Paul, of Pittsfield, Aline M. Ferris and her husband, John, of Windsor, and Ann M. Farrell of Dalton. He also leaves his two grandchildren; Douglas and Alexis LaDoucer and his former wife; Debra Carlson-Farrell of Dalton. Matt also leaves many aunts, uncles,nieces, nephews, cousins and his extended family; Jenny Pytko, and Joshua and Paige Cochran.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Matthew T. Farrell, 46, of Dalton who died March 11, 2011 will be held Wednesday at 10:00 AM at St. Agnes Church in Dalton celebrated by the Rev. Christopher Malatesta, pastor. A graveside service will be held in the spring in Ashuelot Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM at the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in Dalton. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in memory of Matt may be made to St. Agnes School or to the Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association both in care of the funeral home, 890 Main St. Dalton, MA 01226.
