Obituary for Mary M. Wheeler

MARY MARGARET WHEELER, 81, a resident of 63 Middlefield Road, Peru, died Wednesday afternoon at her home. Prior to living in Peru, she had resided of Alford and Egremont.
Born in Pittsfield, February 2, 1925, the daughter of Arthur and Elizabeth Williams Sullivan, she was a 1943 graduate of Pittsfield High School. A longtime resident of southern Berkshire county, Mary was instrumental in
establishing the Camp Fire Girls organization in several towns. She was also the Town Clerk in Alford and the librarian in South Egremont for several years. Upon moving to Peru in 1974, she owned and operated the At Your Service
housecleaning business for more than ten years. She also served as Peru Town Clerk for over twenty years and helped to create the Peru Town Library. Her husband, Ralph A. Wheeler, whom she married April 12, 1947, died
October 5, 1980. Mrs. Wheeler is survived by a son, Ralph A. Wheeler of Fort Lauderdale,
Florida, and a daughter, Gladys M. Wheeler of Peru.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for MARY MARGARET WHEELER, who died Wednesday,
August 30, will be Saturday, September 2, at 10:00 a.m., at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL
HOME, 890 East Main Street, Dalton, with Bishop David S. Heath of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in
North Egremont. The family will receive friends today,Friday,from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to
8:00 p.m., at Mrs. Wheeler's home, 63 Middlefield Road, Peru. Contributions in
memory of Mrs. Wheeler may be made to the charity of one's choice in care of the
funeral home.
