Obituary for Mary B. Solera

Mrs. Mary Bartola Solera, 95, of 57 Chickering Street, Pittsfield, Ma. died Thursday afternoon at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born on August 6, 1911 a daughter of the late Damiano and Teresa Peri Scelsi. She attended schools in Pittsfield and was a 1929 graduate of Pittsfield High School. A homemaker, at onetime she had worked for Western Massachusetts Electric Company as a billing clerk for 8 years. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and was a former member of its Ladies Guild. Mrs. Solera had been a longtime City of Pittsfield Voting Poll volunteer. She was the wife of Albert J. Solera whom she married at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church on September 30, 1939; he died January 19, 1998. She is survived by two sons, John J. Solera of Berlin, Massachusetts and Peter S. Solera of Montebello, New York. Two daughters, Ann T. Schultheis of Dousman, Wisconsin and Mary E. Solera of Killingworth, Conn. A Brother, Peter Shelsey of New Orleans, Louisiana. Two sisters, Josephine Lentz and Antoinette Shelsey both of Pittsfield, Ma. and Six Grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mary B. Scelsi Solera, who died April 26, 2007, will be held Monday at 9:15 A.M. from the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, Ma. followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker CSS, pastor. Burial will follow in the family plot at Saint Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at Dery Funeral Home will be Sunday from 4 to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials in her memory be made to Mount Carmel Church in care of the funeral home. Mrs. Solera is lovingly survived by her six adored grandchildren, Mark and Kristin Schultheis, Kathleen and Christine McDonough and Nicole and Marisa Solera. She was predeceased by two brothers, Nicholas A. Shelsy and Joseph S. Scelsi and by a sister, Theresa A. Shelsey.
